Charm of a purple dragon breathing orange fire

December Charm: Dragon

A purple dragon made of seed beads. The wing is an iridescent yellow and kind of looks like a mushroom cap. The dragon has a light blue tuft on its tail and a light blue mane. Its horns are shiny teal. And it is shooting an orange flame from its mouth, because it's a dragon.

I love fantasy and I couldn’t resist making something fantasy-related to end out the year, so I decided to make a dragon charm for December. I know a lot of dragons are thought of as being green or brown (or more typical lizard colors), but what is the fun of fantasy if you can’t make your dragon purple with light yellow wings?

There are lots of fantasy books that I strongly recommend (Terry Pratchett, Holly Black), but here are two that I don’t think enough people have heard about and really should:

Shanna Swendson’s books (especially her Enchanted, Inc. series), are akin to drinking hot chocolate on a cold winter’s day. They are relaxing, comforting, and very good. I generally reread her books at least once a year. A few of her books even have dragons in them.

I also can’t recommend A Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson enough. There aren’t any dragons in it, but it does have magical books and libraries. This was my favorite book of 2019 and it’s not an exaggeration to say that I’ve read it dozens of times since.
